Without proper ventilation and drainage, moisture can accumulate between the water-resistive barrier and siding of a building. A rainscreen separates the cladding from the building, allowing drainage and moisture evaporation.

Ventilated rainscreens are a support system in the building envelope that separates the cladding from the building, allowing for proper ventilation and drainage. It does not provide waterproofing protection, but allows drainage and moisture evaporation, limiting the amount of water that can reach the building’s moisture barrier and adding the safety buffer of drying energy.

If proper drainage and evaporation does not occur, the water is in contact with the building envelope for a longer period of time, leading to problematic moisture damage.

DELTA®-DRY is an innovative ventilated rainscreen for complete moisture protection. Composed of special high-density polyethylene, the product provides exterior and interior drainage and ventilation through its unique dimple and groove design. It is the ideal protection behind adhered manufactured stone veneer, conventional stucco, and other absorptive claddings.

Water vapor, driven from the interior of the structure can escape through the ventilated air space between the sheathing board and the DELTA®-DRY, while minimizing condensation that could cause potential damage within the building enclosure.

Additionally, a complete capillary break behind the cladding provides ventilation, which captures and drains transient moisture migrating through the wall structure. It also protects the building envelope from wind driven rain and snow, and manages water leakage through the cladding.
